Professor Christian Witting

Christian Witting is Professor of Law at National University of Singapore where he serves as Vice Dean (Undergraduate Studies) and Deputy Editor of the Singapore Journal of Legal Studies.

In a former life, he worked at Melbourne Law School and was a solicitor with the Australian Government Solicitor.

Christian’s current research interests concern the modelling of corporate structures (corporate groups, supply chains and individual companies), scientific approaches to legal theorisation and modelling, and organisational vicarious liability.

Recent publications include Liability of Corporate Groups and Networks (CUP, 2018) and the co-edited volume Research Handbook on Corporate Liability (Edward Elgar 2023)(with Martin Petrin). Christian has published more widely in corporate law (on veil piercing, shareholder liability, director negligence and the place of managers in corporate governance regimes) and on numerous tort law issues in leading journals in Australia and the United Kingdom.

His work has been cited by the UK Supreme Court/House of Lords, Supreme Court of Canada, Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa, High Court of Australia and other appellate courts.
